Grand tree located on 22nd Street
This is the last comment in the incremental from Erin, based on my conversation and review on site with the arborist (Tom Conte) on January 5, 2024. He rated the tree as a D10 and upon my review I found it to be a C-9. There are extensive root problems (two large structural roots are hollow). There is decay below the juncture of co-dominant limbs, several mid-stem failures of 2”-4”and small twig dieback throughout the canopy. Because the rating is a C-9, I informed them that they had to handle it through the building permit and do noticing at the time of permitting. I also informed them that if there was a rezoning as part of this site, a zoning signoff may be required. Erin’s comment is as follows: • “Upon discussions with the Senior Forester Examiner, the grand tree along 22nd Street requires noticing to remove. Hazardous grand trees require noticing; however the rating the project arborist submitted was a dangerous tree rating. Natural Resources is requesting the arborist report be amended to reflect the hazardous condition discussed with Natural Resources. The Dangerous tree rating that was given in the arborist report is NOT agreed upon by Natural Resources”
