Alternative Methods and Materials Request for Permit #BLD-22-0490063. in regards to a recent permit revision that was submitted. We have met with Dave Jennings and Oscar Moreno to discuss this AMMR and its viability and are requesting your consideration. The permit revision, that was recently submitted, looked to provide the building an unlimited square footage per FBC 507.7. All of the stipulations in this section can be met except for the last item that requires 60’ clearance at all sides of the building. The building maintains the 60’ clearance at the North, West and South sides of the building, but there is a portion of the existing building, that is being renovated, that is only ~54’?6” from the property line at the tightest point. Due to this being the existing building, there is not an opportunity to demo the end of the building and remove the portion that is extending this ~5’?6” into the 60’ clearance that is required. In this AMMR, we are proposing to provide a 2?hour wall at the exterior of the building with a 2?hour rated, 30” tall parapet along all of the exterior walls that are within 60’ of the property line. This would create a barrier similar to a fire wall at the portion of the building that would be within that 60’ clearance that is required. The revised site plan, roof plan, building elevations, building sections, and section details are provided, showing the extent of this fire wall as well as the proposed construction of the 2?hour rated, 30” tall parapet that is to extend above the rated exterior walls.
